Depression

Feeling sad, hopeless, empty, exhausted? If so, you may be experiencing a Clinical Depression (CD).

The symptoms of a CD include feelings of sadness, hopelessness, worthlessness, emptiness, guilt, exhaustion, and a lack of motivation. You may find it so difficult and painful to be with people that you avoid interacting, and this leads to feelings of loneliness and isolation.

CD is not a sign of weakness; it is not a sign of poor character. It is a serious, clinical condition; you cannot "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" and "shake off" a CD.

CD is a very treatable condition, but it requires professional help.

Traditional treatments generally focus on changing negative thinking patterns. The problem with this approach is that symptoms often return again and again because it does not heal the deeper or "core" issues that are the causing symptoms. Core Healing is more effective than other treatment approaches because it addresses the core issues that are causing the sadness, lack of motivation, and feelings of worthlessness.

Core Healing will allow you to experience a deep and lasting happiness and an enduring sense of confidence and freedom.

You may have a CD if you are experiencing 5 or more of the following:

* Depressed mood (sadness or emptiness) for most of the day
* A lack of interest or pleasure in normal activities
* A significant change in weight (weight gain or weight loss)
* Changes in your sleep patterns (insomnia or sleeping too much)
* Changes in how you move (moving in slow motion or restlessness)
* Feelings of worthlessness and/or excessive and inappropriate guilt
* Difficulties concentrating and/or making decisions
* Thoughts about not wanting to go on living and/or suicidal thoughts

If you have been experiencing 5 or more of these symptoms for at least two weeks, chances are you are experiencing a CD, and you should seek help immediately.

CD is a dangerous condition because it puts people at risk for suicide. If you are experiencing a CD, don't wait to seek help.

You do not have to continue to suffer. Call us today at (734) 776-2284.

What causes Clinical Depression (CD)?

The exact causes of CD are uncertain; it is believed to be caused by an imbalance of certain chemicals in the brain called neurotransmitters. Chemicals in the brain can become unbalanced due to:

- Chronic stress
- Traumatic events
- Grief
- A series of significant disappointments
- Genetic factors
- Health/medical problems
- Chronic sleep problems
- Negative thinking patterns
- Core issues

Do I have to go on anti-depressants to recover from a clinical depression?

Not necessarily. It depends on the severity of your CD. If your symptoms are so severe that they keep you from functioning and/or are causing you to be at risk for suicide, then a course of medication is recommended until you are able to function and are no longer at risk. If your symptoms are not disabling or life-threatening, then it is up to you whether or not to try anti-depressants. Your therapist will provide you with the information and support that you need to make this decision.

If CD is a chemical imbalance, how can therapy help?

Therapy can help to relieve CD by addressing the thoughts, feelings, beliefs, situations and core issues that are causing the chemical imbalance. CD often causes people to remain stuck in patterns that continue to perpetuate the CD; it is a catch-22 that your therapist can help you to break free from.

CD hurts! Let us help you to recover from CD and experience the hope, confidence and freedom that you've been longing for.
